Sukina Pilgrim is a Spoken-Word and Hip Hop artist, Workshop Facilitator and Event Organiser. She makes up one half of the Muslim female Hip Hop duo, Poetic Pilgrimage and has performed across the UK, Europe, the USA, North and South Africa with her group sharing their unique blend of conscious Hip Hop and impactful poetry to engage communities.
Her work has been featured on the BBC News, World Service and Asian Network, ITV, Channel 4 and Al Jazeera and has been written about in the Huffington Post, Daily Mail, The Voice and many other international media outlets. In March 2015 Al Jazeera screened a documentary about her group called Hip Hop Hijabis. In 2017 she delivered a Tedx Talk on the healing power of poetry.
In a small market town in the UK, there is a voice that has steadily been creating beautiful music for the last few years. Flo has gone from strength to strength since she first came onto the gig scene, singing with a number of bands, including Atlas alongside Richy Spitz.
There was always more to her talent though, so when she decided to branch out into other areas and start working on her solo career, things really began to take shape. It’s thanks to her dreamlike, almost ethereal vocal style that she has become the ideal collaborator for so many artists on the UK Hip Hop scene and beyond.
2018 is just underway, but already Flo is plotting her next projects and promises to keep fans - both old and new - as enticed by her music as ever.
