Ming and Ellie formed Mi.el when they met in London at university sharing the same interests of
starting a girl band. They explored various genres and what started as a funk band slowly
evolved into a sound more true to their own after introducing synths, drum machines and
samples and recruiting Fin as their drummer.
Their initial two singles “Colours” and “Outside” trace a journey through these various musical
styles until they arrived at their distinctive hypnotic dream-pop sound, blending natural elements
with electronic ones.
Ming’s fingerpicking style in alternate tunings and Ellie’s melodic bass lines are to the core of
who Mi.el are. In May they will begin to release their self-produced debut EP ‘Grains of Sand’
with the first single ‘She Will Be Gone’ coming out on the 24th, marking the start of what they
like to call “A sonic journey through the desert at sunset while riding a horse”.
