The Five Forties are a brand-new band based out of Montreux, Switzerland. We are forty somethings, experienced musicians, our songs talk about the things that affect our lives currently, we have not invented an imaginary world, these songs are a reflection about the stuff that we have experienced as middle-age chaps.

Things like...the loss of a friend too soon, kids flying the nest & ultimately & sadly, separation. And while some of these happenings haven’t been easy to deal with, we wear our life experiences lightly. Stuff happens. It’s about how you deal with it.

Our warm, sometimes bittersweet sound will draw you in. The 05:40s walk an appealing line straddling rock and classic pop. And you may be surprised by our fresh approach to some well-established musical paths.

The band’s name may have been inspired by a clock in our recording studio stuck at a particular point on the dial. But the 05:40s’ attitude is not frozen in time. We musical adventurers are about looking forward.

A mix of nationalities, Swiss, Italian, French & English, we have been helped along by a seasoned producer from South Africa., and have to- date recorded 10 original tracks, all available on the usual online platforms.
