William Bishop

Having a background in literature and  poetry, music became second nature to Will Bishop, despite being a reserved individual, he has gone against the odds performing regularly at music venues writing music, a far cry from his upbringing. William John Bishop is classically trained as a cellist and double bassist, learning acoustic guitar as a teenager.  Influences include Laura Marling, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. Will writes on guitar and piano. 

As performing is something that appeals to him the most he believes that you shouldn't let the opinions of others determine your own decisions. His performances have been used as part of the degree courses at The University of York department of film, media and television. Will is currently studying at York for a PHD in English.

William Bishop has a simple acoustic approach to his music, and his sound is somewhere between Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.  His vibe is melancholy while his vocals are strong, capturing the mood of his lyrical content while his hands slide up and down the neck of his acoustic guitar, bringing it and his music to life.  These songs demand your full attention to catch all the nuances of his words and music, but the payoff is rich indeed.  Put this one on when you have the time to truly listen, and you’ll walk away a better person. 

There is a melancholy about his songs and delivery. I’ll avoid the obvious references. There’s a harsh honesty about his lyrics - the simplistic sound enhances the depth of the story. 

His new album is to be released later on this year and William is currently touring in the UK.

THE BA

Formed in 1976, their music has been described as "like a primitive Talking Heads played by people who have never heard Talking Heads."

2018 saw The Chesterfield Band hit the road in a big way. Travelling over 15,000km, playing over 100 shows, eating an absolutely ridiculous amount of bacon and egg rolls while meeting a heap of amazing people. Their debut single “Imagining Nothing At All” continues to be featured on Tiger Airway flights around Australia and their single ‘Home’ is receiving airplay on international radio stations.

2019 is shaping up to be even bigger with plans for another Australian tour and a European tour in the works. The band will also be releasing their debut EP “Early Days” in late Feb with 4 new tracks and a whole bag of goodies.

The Chesterfield Band started in the kitchen with Tess and Cam writing and singing together. They decided to enter a competition for local songwriters. They won, and with the money they recorded and released their first single under the band name “My Dad & I”.

6 months and a whole heap of shows later the duo ran into an old friend of Cam’s, Dylan. He was performing in the same music festival with another band. In a spur of moment decision the guys invited Dylan to play drums on a song and that was that, they’d formed a band.

With Dylan on drums ‘My Dad & I’ continued to play shows locally and interstate. Over the next the few months Tess turned 18, and the bond between the band members became more like a family. Everyone agreed that it was time for a name change and to start taking things to the next level. The guys set up a ‘Name the Band’ competition and decided on “The Chesterfield Band”.

Looking to expand their sound even further the band played with some great local bass players and then struck gold with Craig. He brought not only an incredible musicality to the bands sound but fitted perfectly into their unique family vibe.

Data Recovery Project is a Washington, DC-based synth duo consisting of electronic artists C.P. Kush and Daniel Warren Hill. They channel retro Hi-NRG dance beats, trenchant observations, and reflective meditations, through thier own mischievous irreverence. Data Recovery Project performs regularly as a live-tronica act combining their original songs with mixed-live video elements. They have had appeared in U.S. cities from Boston, MA, to Key West, FL, and as part of the Fort Reno Summer Concert Series in Washington, DC.

Sukh is a Wolverhampton born, Manchester based singer-songwriter and doctor. His roots in music started with his love of film scores, and as a teenager he was thrown in at the deep end when he was comissioned to compose an action movie soundtrack. 

With that completed, he got the song writing bug and during his time at medical school formed several bands and started feverishly working on his solo material, exploring wildly different musical directions, inspired by cinema.
