Sanah Ahsan
Sanah Ahsan is a queer pakistani muslim womxn. She is a trainee clinical psychologist, spoken word artist, published poet and activist. Her performance journey began with BBC Words First, has taken her to the stage of Shakespeare’s globe theatre, and most recently she won the Outspoken Prize for performance poetry 2019. She works closely with a grassroots organisation called Jawaab in tackling Islamophobia, and her activism has involved collaborating with organisations such as human appeal and childline. She is currently conducting research to deconstruct whiteness within clinical psychology, whilst developing community projects promoting further dialogue around QTIPOC, young people’s mental health, and spaces for queer muslim womxn. She regularly speaks about all these issues on panels across London, and will be doing a TED talk in December on how we can use poetry to rewrite a more compassionate narrative with ourselves.
TStarNay
TStarNay is a dynamic spoken word artist that uses tough personal life experiences to provide social commentary on contemporary issues people are not willing to acknowledge. The artist's work ranges from critiques of social media to popular culture and political climates. When she's not performing poetry, TStarNay is an educator and founder of a social enterprise dedicated to language learning for students from state schools. In the artist own words "many people speak up and stand up but don't keep it up when nobody is looking", explaining the motivation to not just make social critiques but also effect change in her immediate community.
Y.A
Y.A is a South London based Spoken Word Artist, Performance Poet, Writer, Artist, Playwright, Singer and Songwriter. Who has and continues to headline and feature at an array of Spoken Word events all over London including Transcendence, Chocolate Poetry Club, Scripted, various charity events, What you Saying Poetry, Said it through the Grapevine, Verses, Premiere Poetry and Poetic Unity to name a few. You can always catch her at the Flovortex as she is a part of the exceptionally talented creative collective FLOpoets, mentored by the Natalie "Floacist" Stewart of Floetry. Y.A is working on some exciting projects to create and develop her art and skill set. In addition to performances, Y.A has worked closely with Music House and the other FLOpoets to create a new genre of music called "WORD". Y.A's tracks are available to download at www.flovortex.com and are featured in the UK Top 40 Spoken Word Chart. As an artist she challenges some of the most common misconceptions and stereotypes of Asian women and Young mothers. Whilst her poetry explores themes of identity, empowerment, self-reflection and self-love. Y.A's spoken word journey has developed from being an opportunity to self express to becoming a platform to effect change through purposeful work.

Mind Over Matter
An independent project which aims to break down stigma attached to mental health and widen the conversation by discussing it through Hip Hop and Spoken Word Poetry. We host spirited, powerful events showcasing the best of up and coming talent as well as established artists from the worlds of Spoken Word and Hip Hop, for us to come together and discuss the difficult realities of mental health.
